MARTIAL IS AGAIN MAN OF THE MATCH

Anthony Martial claimed Manchester United’s Man of the Match award for the second successive game after another eye-catching performance against Benfica on Tuesday night.

The Frenchman topped our poll on Twitter with 55 per cent of the votes, ahead of Nemanja Matic (35 per cent) and Daley Blind (10 per cent), after the trio were nominated by MUTV pundits Ron Atkinson and Lou Macari.

Martial missed a first-half penalty but was the brightest spark for the Reds, who need just one point to qualify for the Champions League Round of 16 with two games to play after an own goal from Benfica goalkeeper Mile Svilar and Daley Blind’s penalty secured a 2-0 victory over the Portuguese champions at Old Trafford.

His impressive display comes after the forward also won the fans' accolade following his impact as a substitute against Tottenham last Saturday, when he scored the winning goal in United's 1-0 Premier League victory.

Martial, who has six goals and six assists to his name already this term in all competitions, was also voted the star man in the Reds' 4-1 victory away at CSKA Moscow in the Champions League last month after scoring from the spot and playing his part in United’s three other goals on the night.

He will be hoping to keep his place in the team as the Reds travel to Stamford Bridge to face Jose Mourinho’s former club Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 16:30 GMT).
